Pomerol is the maverick of Bordeaux.

It's like that kid in school who refuses to follow the script but consistently nails everything.

Unlike its Bordeaux counterparts, Pomerol doesn't have a complex classification system.

It's all about one thing here: Quality

Pomerol is located on the right bank of Bordeaux (see below) and is the home to some of the most expensive, sought-after wines in the world. Producers such as Pétrus, Chateau Lafleur, and Le Pin are within walking distance of each other.

These wines are mainly made from Merlot. Which might come as a surprise, right? Because as we all know Merlot has become associated with being the safe choice at your local bar.

But not here!

Pomerol shows you the absolute pinnacle of what Merlot can be, like the special forces of the wine world.

The adage also proves true here, good things do come in small packages. They are artisanal wineries—some producing no more than 1,000 cases per year.

Pomerol's landscapes and architecture might appear typical, but its wines are anything but.

Exclusivity and allure — it's all part of the Pomerol package.
