My advice to wine novices: I am a great fan of diversity and trying new wines. My inspiration used to be Jancis Robinson who advised trying different varieties. These days I am more inclined to follow Mae West who said ""

Is the Merriman a blend with Cab Sav ?.

Hi Jan, I think the WSET courses are a great way to learn about wine in a systematic way. The first three tiers will give you a thorough grounding on the world of wine that will undoubtedly help your decision making and enjoyment. I would actually jump straight in to level 2 if you can. More than happy to have a chat about this in more depth :).
